Our Mission
Our mission is to preserve the historical heritage of Lucas County, Ohio through its cemeteries and burial records. ​

Our Objectives

Find all sexton's burial records for a Lucas County cemetery and digitize all, and transcribe them to a searchable format.

Provide information and help to assist people looking for a single grave, or the family members in a plot. [e.g. make online death & burial records and procedures]

Create online memorials (i.e. FindaGrave DB) for all burials in Lucas County (including detailed grave locations.) Progress to date.

Create online memorials for veteran burials in Lucas County (including detailed grave locations.) Progress to date.

Create maps of Lucas County Cemeteries that show the section & lot locations, and make them available in the public domain online.

Update on-line Lucas County memorial records (e.g. plot info, vital records, photos, GPS, family links, bios, interment date, cemetery ID).

Conduct historical research on cemeteries of Lucas County.

Advocate for Lucas County cemetery beautification. [e.g. maintenance of grounds, roadways, monuments, and gravestones, find/uncover or add section markers, lot markers, roadsigns, and other signage as directional aids to all graves, clean, uncover and enhance gravestone inscriptions]​
Operating as a 501(c)(3) charity, the Lucas County Cemeteries Historical Association (LCCHA) relies on volunteers and donations to fulfill our mission.

At the LCCHA we focus on collaborating with cemeteries, veterans' groups, and other agencies. By understanding their unique needs, we tailor our efforts for effective partnerships that promote preservation of cemeteries and historical records.
​Our work is guided by established best practices and professional standards, ensuring that our work preserves the accuracy of historical records and the integrity of cemetery monuments.
