The LCCHA is a group of volunteers that have a passion to improve the records of burials in Lucas County, Ohio, so that anyone can easily locate a burial of interest to them.
We are non-paid, non-profit, archival, cultural, historical and educational; a class A82 organization that interprets, collects and preserves the historical heritage of this specific geographic location.

Calling all photographers!

Whether you're an amateur or a pro, the Lucas County Cemeteries Historical Association (LCCHA) has an exciting opportunity for you. Participate in the Lucas County Cemetery Photo Contest and help us showcase the beauty and rich history of cemeteries in Lucas County. Not only will you get a chance to explore and capture these fascinating sites, but you could also win a grand prize of $300!

Old Toledo State Hospital Brush Removal - April 27th 10AM-noon

Bissell-Stickney Wetland Clean-up - April 27th 11AM-2PM+

This is a continuation of last year's wetland clean-up. The place is this nature preserve [corner of D St. & Paxton St. in Toledo] and we will meet at 11AM Saturday April 27th. Any volunteer is welcome - best to sign up in advance here. Partners for Clean Streams will bring supplies and some volunteers too. Wear old clothes.

Need for volunteers (LCCHA members) - attend LCCHA booth at Early Ohio on the Portage Event.

This event is on Saturday May 4th & Sunday May 5th 10AM to 3PM. This involves just attending the LCCHA table and explaining our organization to event attendees.

Apply decals on TMP veteran gravestones - event#3.

This event is on Sunday May 5th noon to 3PM. The agenda is here. This event is a continuation - preparing for Memorial Day this year by putting stickers on the gravestones of veterans buried at Toledo Memorial Park (TMP). If interested, contact davidweber@lccemetery.org.. Or just show up. We will have lists of veterans, maps of the cemetery and gummed decals. A fun family friendly event. Young children will need a chaperone.

Call for Oral Presentations in Toledo..

The Lucas County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society is calling for oral presentations to be given at their chapter meetings, which meet monthly every 3rd Saturday at 2PM at the Downtown Toledo Main Library. Presentation slots currently available are April thru November. If any interest, contact president@lccemetery.org.

Any ideas for a digitzing grant for LCCHA work?

The LCCHA looking for ideas for requesting a grant of up to $2500 from the Ohio Local History Alliance for digitizing records of Lucas County. Contact president@lccemetery.org or bring up your idea at the next LCCHA meeting. The deadline for the grant is February 15, 2025.

The LCCHA received $1,000 from The Arts Commission this year. This funding is part of the American Rescue Plan Act money received by the City of Toledo and Lucas County that was created to provide support to local arts organizations and artists. The support will be used for marketing and cemetery art promotion. Thank you to these organizations, as well as our team, who worked diligently on the application for us to receive the funding. And thanks to the Toledo Photo Arts Club, for technical assistance.
